I have to say, romantic portraits aren’t really my thing...lol... really! I focus on creative portraits. Yes, you’ll have intimate shots between you both but romantic, no. Warmth, love, emotional if not tearful YES. The depth that I want to give my couples during their creative session leaves romantic in the dust. At times my clients feel each others heart beats. They laugh lots, but romantic no.
Creative portraits are of just the two of you and they will be the images that you frame beside your bed or over your mantle and they will also be the images that will fill your album for generations to enjoy. These photographs are often my favorite not only because of their beauty but because this is such a sweet portion of the day. For this brief moment in time, you will be alone with your groom on your wedding day. You will have a chance to love one another and really connect before the craziness begins! Creative portraits are normally done before the ceremony (after the “First Look”) or after the ceremony. Remember, if you’re not interested in a first look, we will make sure to include a lot of time after the ceremony for these portraits!
One of my favorite parts of my job is taking something so ordinary and making it look extraordinary! This happens most often when it comes to picking portrait locations! If there is one thing that I love and appreciate about my couples, it’s that they trust me! Sometimes I select portrait locations that most people wouldn’t consider attractive. For example, the image on this spread was taken in the middle of Fish Creek Park with houses circling the perimeter and a tent below. It’s Fish Creek Park so beautiful but in this photo it looks like they are in the middle of nowhere climbing a hill seeing their future. Not in the middle of the city surrounded by houses. Or sometimes I may take you to a desolate alley with garbage surrounding us and what you see in the final photographs is just beauty. The lighting coming down the allwy may have been just perfect and all you see is the relection of you looking into each others souls.. So my encouragement is to just trust me! You don’t have to worry about a thing! Trust my locations and I promise you, you’ll LOVE the results!
Lets chat about your bridal party! I know from experience that all brides want their closest friends to have an AMAZING time during their big day and I will make sure that happens! Bridal party portraits should be a ton of FUN! After you share your first look, depending on the locations and the timing of the day, your bridal party will join us for portraits! If all goes well, we will be able to accomplish ALL of your bridal party protraits BEFORE the ceremony (or just after the ceremony). This means that your guys and gals will be free to mingle at cocktail hour if they wish! If there are flower girls and ring bearers involved, they can either join us for the pre-ceremony portraits or we can take one final group photo after the ceremony, before family formals. Be sure your groomsmen arrive with boutonnieres and your bridesmaids arrive with bouquets!
